1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

6. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

When we do not have any legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will delete or anonymize such information.  If this is not possible (for instance, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), we will safely delete it.

7. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In summary:  We strive to protect your personal information in an organized and secure system. 

As soon as you use our website, the processing of personal information that you share with us is submitted to a high safety standard.  The Cosmodôme undertakes to protect and safeguard the confidentiality and safety of personal information provided to it in compliance with Canadian law regarding the protection of personal information in the private sector and any other applicable law.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational safety measures designed to protect any personal information that we process.  Among the safety measures put in place to protect your personal information, we protect the content of all forms contained on our website through Google’s reCaptcha service.  To learn more about this service, consult Google’s rules of confidentiality along with its terms of use.

Nevertheless, despite our protection measures and our efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission on the Web or information storage technology can be guaranteed as full proof.  Thus, we cannot guarantee that computer hackers, cybercriminals or other unauthorized Web users will be unable to breach our website’s security and collect, access, steal or modify your information in an inappropriate manner.  Even if we do our best to protect your personal information, the transmission of personal information is at your own risk.  You must only access services in a secure environment.

8. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS ?

In summary:  We do not deliberately collect personal data from children of less than 14 years of age and we do not display such data to them. 

We do not deliberately solicit personal data nor do we display the data to children of less than 14 years of age.  When browsing our website, you declare that you are 14 years old or older and, if you are less than 14 years old, you declare having received authorization from your parental authority or your legal tutor as to the use and transmission of your personal information on the Cosmodôme website.

If we learn that the personal information of users of less than 14 years of age has been collected without the consent of their parental authority or legal tutor, we will disactivate the account and take reasonable measures to quickly delete this data from our files.  If you have knowledge of data that we could have collected from children of less than 14 years of age, please contact us at info@cosmodome.org.

9. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In summary:  In a few regions, such as Canada, you have rights that give you access to and control over your personal information.  You can review, change or delete your account at any time. 

In certain regions, like Canada, you have certain rights under applicable laws regarding data protection.  These can include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information; (ii) to request the correction or deletion of your data; (iii) to restrict processing of your personal information; and (iv) if applicable, to data portability.  In certain circumstances, you also have the right to oppose the processing of your personal information.  You can make this request by contacting us using the contact information contained in the section entitled: “HOW CAN YOU CONTACT ABOUT THIS PRIVACY PROTECTION POLICY ?”

Please note that you are responsible for updating the personal information you provide us with.  You are responsible for modifying it, if necessary, so that we can rely upon it for the purpose it is intended for.  We cannot be held responsible for the consequences resulting from the use of obsolete personal information that you would not have updated.

We will examine and act upon all requests in accordance with applicable laws regarding the protection of personal data.

If you live in the EEA or in the United Kingdom and believe that we are illegally managing your personal information, you also have the right to submit a complaint to your member state’s National Data Protection Authority or the Information Commissioner’s Office of the United Kingdom.

Withdrawing your consent:  We count on your consent to manage your personal information, which may be explicit or implicit, depending on the applicable law.  You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the contact information contained in the section below entitled: “HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS PRIVACY PROTECTION POLICY ?”

However, please note that this will not affect the legality of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when the applicable law allows, the processing of your personal information done on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

Cookies and similar technology:

10. ``DO NOT TRACK`` (DNT) FUNCTION

Most Web search engines and some mobile operating systems and apps contain a “Do Not Track” function that you can activate to indicate your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored or collected. We do not currently respond to browser “do-not-track” signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If an online tracking standard is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will notify you of this practice in a revised version of this Privacy Protection Policy.

11. DO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In summary:  Yes, if you reside in California, you have specific rights regarding access to your personal information. 

Section 1798.83 of the California Civil Code, also known as the “Shine The Light Act”, gives our users living in California the right to request and obtain from us, once a year free of charge, information on the personal information categories that we disclose to third parties for direct marketing purposes as well as the names and addresses of all third parties with whom we have shared personal information in the previous year.  If you are a California resident and wish to make such a request, please submit such request by using the contact information provided below.

If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California and have a registered account with the services, you have the right to request the deletion of undesirable data that you publicly display on the services.  To request the deletion of this data, please contact us by using the contact information provided below and include the email address associated with your account as well as a declaration of California residency.  We will make sure that this data is not publicly displayed on our services; however, please know that the data could not be entirely deleted from all of our systems.

12. DO WE UPDATE THIS PRIVACY PROTECTION POLICY ?

In summary:  Yes, we update this Privacy Protection Policy, when necessary, to ensure compliance with laws. 

We can update this Privacy Protection Policy at any time.  The new version will be noted by a “revised” sign.  The date and the new version will come into effect as soon as it is published on our website.  We invite you to frequently check this policy to be informed about the way we protect your personal information.
